Full-stack Engineer

The Role

You will be responsible for designing and building a cloud stack for the collection, storage, analysis, and visualization of volumetric ocean data. Data sources will include our own sensors as well third-party repositories. A key part of the role includes coming up with strategies for taking end-user requirements and workflows and reducing them to practice. We are looking for a developer who has shipped software used by multiple types of stakeholders, has a good product sense, and can rapidly iterate on customer-facing pieces of the software (both APIs as well as interactive use) while building a modern, reliable multi-tenant data analytics backend. This role is for an experienced developer who knows how to ship complex software products and can grow with the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a system architecture for the front-end and backend
• Rapid prototyping of various subsystems and technologies to validate performance
• Design and implement cloud technologies required for production
• Set up software engineering discipline for the team
• Develop maintainable code that can be iterated on rapidly, is automatically tested, and continuously integrated and deployed
• Identify and recruit other developers to the mission.
• Maintain a technology and feature roadmap for our systems

Minimum qualifications

• An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of real-world experience with designing, building, and shipping complex software products that include front-end and backend elements.
• Demonstrated broad base of front end and backend technologies and their instantiation in the cloud
• Experience dealing with large, multidimensional data sets and time series
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, technical writing skills are mandatory.
• Enthusiasm to join a startup taking on the challenge of reimagining ocean monitoring

Highly preferred qualifications

• Experience applying your experience to large scale telemetry, telematics, sensor data processing, or time-series analytics systems.
• Experience with large scale geospatial data systems
• Experience with scientific data interchange formats and their implementation
